ANNOTATION
The purpose of this article is to present the main results of the study of elements of the practice of solving problems and forming the main trends in development and functioning of fodder production in foreign countries, especially in Poland facing current challenges, which may have practical implications for orientation in the development of fodder production and fodder supply of livestock breeders in Ukraine. The urgency of finding the ways to solve the problems of fodder production, fodder base formation and providing animals with the fodder of the appropriate quality and in the needed amount has immeasurably increased in the recent years due to the new modern challenges - the coronavirus pandemic and Russian military intervention in Ukraine, which have caused a number of disproportions and formed a large set of structural imbalances in fodder production and in providing them to animals producers. The situation is aggravated due to these factors action along with the long-standing trend of deteriorating climatic conditions, which is objectively related to the environmental impact on livestock and, consequently, feed production, i.e. environmental friendliness and safety of feed naturally affects the structure of animal husbandry and, accordingly, the environmental friendliness and safety of both this industry and its products in a very wide range of aspects. During the period of formation and effect of the identified challenges, certain trends in the development of fodder production have been formed in the world and foreign animals producers and feed producers have gained some experience in solving those problems. It will not solve the feed problems in Ukraine caused by the Russian military aggression, but can have a certain significance in the formation of approaches to their solution. Based on the main trends in development of fodder production in the world, the main ways of further development of the branch in Ukraine may be related with increasing their level of ecological safety, the development of the use of active feed additives, including of therapeutic nature, optimizing the structure of fodder and animal feeding, improving the quality of feed and the possibility of changing the structure of their production, intensifying fodder production by households, improving feed efficiency, innovation and digitalization of the industry, which will be possible in Ukraine after the victory, the end of hostilities and ensuring the possibility of safe economic activity in the occupied territories.
