ANNOTATION

The article considers the global problem of antibiotic resistance, which is recognized as a serious threat to human health, because antibiotic resistance and the emergence of multidrug-resistant bacterial strains reduce the effectiveness of drugs. This phenomenon is caused by the environmental factors that contribute to the genetic mutation of the bacterial cell and inhibit the active ingredient of antibiotics, as well as the irrational use of antibiotics in veterinary medicine, health care, self-medication, etc.

It is emphasized that one of the problems of antibiotic resistance in veterinary pharmacy is that unregistered or counterfeit drugs enter the market, including antibiotics, that makes them readily available for use. The problem of the shadow Internet market is typical for many products, but the biggest risks for the population of Ukraine include the sale of drugs and veterinary products. The activities of the Ukrainian Association of Manufacturers and Distributors of Veterinary Drugs and Feed Additives (hereinafter – «Vetpromspilka»), which includes the most powerful manufacturers of veterinary medicine products, are called upon to counteract the uncontrolled distribution of products via the Internet. It is noted that «Vetpromspilka» actively informs producers, distributors, specialists of the State Food and Consumer Service of Ukraine about the real threat posed by the shadow market of unregistered, counterfeit veterinary products for its all participants, including consumers.

The authors identify EU regulations and directives in the field of veterinary pharmacy to prevent the spread of antibiotic resistance. Great attention is paid to the main changes taking place in the domestic veterinary legislation and the prospects of its adaptation and harmonization in accordance with the rules and requirements of the European Union.
