The article substantiates the effectiveness of biometantanks usage in order to obtain an alternative to fossil sources of energy. The efficient and safe utilization of biowaste while receiving other benefits to the stake-holder, such as receiving biofuels, reducing greenhouse as emissions, as well as costs saving are considered. The chemical process of biogas production, it’s advantages and disadvantages and the usage of biogas in the energy sector are described. The methods of biogas purification is a key to solving the problem of low calorif-ic value of biogas combustion and possibilities of its’ repeat use relatively to natural gas transportation sys-tem. The biogas repeat use fluencies the economy and creates the possibility of increasing the energetic inde-pendence of enterprise, of region and of the country as a whole, while preserving the diversity of energy spe-cies. There are varieties of biomass that can be used effectively to produce biogas or a secondary product identified. The comparison between the average composition and properties inherent in biogas and natural gas was made
